DOGAN HASOL

Dogan Hasol participated in the publishing of the architectural Review “Mimarlưk ve Sanat” in 1961-62. He worked as the Secretary General of the Istanbul Branch of the Turkish Chamber of Architects between 1965-66. During the period from 1966 to 1969, was the editor-in-chief of “Mimarlưk” the monthly review of the Turkish Chamber of Architects. In 1968, established Yapi-Endustri Merkezi (Turkish Building Centre) with a group of friends. In 1978, was elected to the Executive Committee of the International Union of Building Centres (UICB). He served as the President from 1989 to 1995, and in 1995 elected Honorary Member of UICB. In the meantime, he served on juries of numerous architectural competitions, in addition to receiving many awards and honorable mentions in architectural competitions. Among his literary credits :

1. An Encyclopedic Dictionary of Architecture in Turkish (9th Edition).
2. A trilingual Dictionary for Architecture + Building Terms (English / French / Turkish) (2nd Edition).
3. A bilingual Dictionary published in Paris :
"Architecture et Batiment / Architecture and Building".
4. A three-volume collection of his articles published in newspapers and reviews.

He has also since 1973 been the publisher of YAPI, a monthly review of culture, arts and architecture.

He was honored in 1998 and 1999 successively by two universities (Istanbul Technical University and Yildiz Technical University) with the degree of “Dr.h.c.” and in 2000 by the Turkish Chamber of Architects for his contribution to the development of the profession of Architecture.

Hayzuran Hasol, worked as the Chief Officer for the Region of Istanbul at the Town Planning Department of the Municipality of Istanbul at the onset of her professional career. Between 1964-69 she worked as an assistant at the Isik Engineering and Architecture School. During the period between 1969-71, she served as a project architect at the Building Department of the University of Ankara. From 1971 to 1985. she was a teaching professor at Mimar Sinan University. Some of the many designs she created were published in magazines and were included in exhibitions. She received several awards and honorable mentions in the design competitions she entered.

Ayse Hasol Erktin, served as the associate editor of Yapi, a review of culture, arts and architecture, between 1985-87. She also worked as a project architect at Has Architects Ltd. during the same period. During her stay in the USA, she obtained a masters degree in architecture with a special emphasis on the management of architecture firms and creative people. On her return to Turkey, she continued working at Has Architects Ltd. Erktin served as president  of Istanbul Project Management Association (PMI Istanbul Potential Chapter) in 2000-2001 and as vice president of Harvard Alumni Club of Turkey in 1997-2002, and is currently a member of ULI (Urban Land Institute) Turkey Executive Committee.
