The Halep Building located at Beyoglu on Istiklal Avenue dates back to the 19th Century when it was used as an office building. Due to a fire some years ago, this building underwent a renovation in which the function of the building was partially changed. The upper floors became offices and the three lower floors were designed as a shopping arcade connecting Istiklal Avenue to Yesilcam Street. During this renovation the eclecticist facade was restored to its original design while the rest of the building was reconstructed using reinforced concrete.
